United Healthcare has acquired United Medical Resources, the two companies announced on Wednesday. United Healthcare’s Southwest Ohio network provides access to more than 6,000 physicians and 47 hospitals.
UMR will be a third-party national administrator that will provide technology and cost management services. The company will continue as before, said Victoria Buyniski Gluckman, who will remain UMR Provider Portal’s general manager.
Gluckman said that United Medical Resources, which has more than 120 customers in the healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and service industries, will maintain its headquarters in the Cincinnati area. The company manages more than 1,400 health plans for more than 400,000 members.
